Walmart's Item & Supply Chain Technology (CSIS) services is responsible for enabling the core services and systems that support our partners to setup Catalog at scale to be sold thru various Walmart Selling channels both online and in stores in the eCommerce environment, and to provide a frictionless buying experience for customers with high confidence based on high-quality product content. Walmart is investing in transforming these spaces with the latest technology and we are looking for a talented individual who can use their engineering and leadership skills to help our teams solve complex problems. You will be part of the application development team leading software design and implementation, problem-solving, leading consistency across our team in quality standards, ensuring our teams adhere to architecture principles, research and propose creative ideas that allows our teams to solve problems faster and provide engineering efficiency as they work with our customers to deliver world-class software solutions.

  • Leads and participates in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information; writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with the project team and cross-functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent reoccurrences of defects; ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs; interacting with project manager to provide input on project plan; and providing leadership to the project team.
  • Identifying short- and long- term solutions and timeline; reviewing and approving proposed solutions; implementing new architectural patterns; and performing design and code reviews of changes.
  • Leads the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high-level design by partnering with the product management, Web Operations, project management, business and user experience teams; obtaining cross-function approvals; driving proof-of-concept; and implementing prototypes to validate ideas.
  • Utilizes industry research to improve Wal-Mart's technology environment by analyzing industry best practices; benchmarking industry against internal processes and solutions; researching or influencing future industry solutions for fit with internal needs; and defining software development guidelines, standards and processes.
  • Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards.
  • Drives technical vision and influences product roadmap and vision.
  • Documents testing and maintenance of application corrections and improvements.
  • Supports business objectives and ensures the business needs are being met.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in Software development preferable in Retail using Java technologies.
  • 3+ years of programming experience in architecting highly scalable & performing Applications.
  • 2+ years of experience with two or more Open Source technologies (Kafka, Spark, Cassandra, Solr, Elastic, etc.).
  • 2+ years of developing / architecting high transaction high throughput systems is a must.
  • 3+ Experience of highly scalable Restful API / micro-services experience.
  • 1+ years of experience with Scala preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in agile ways of working in a distributed geographical model.
  • 1+ year of experience in Hadoop/Hive/GCP/Spark Streaming preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
