About The Position

Walmart is investing in clean energy projects across our communities and is looking for passionate clean energy professionals to join the team and execute tax equity transactions across the US. The Walmart Energy team is an established team focused on achieving Walmart's regenerative energy goals. Comprised of seasoned energy veterans, the team collaborates across various Walmart departments to support decarbonization efforts. They are innovators and change agents with backgrounds in utilities, banking, clean energy consulting, and more. This role will report to the Director, Energy-Tax Oriented Investments and is based in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business or related field and 2 years of experience in the renewable energy industry OR 4 years' experience in Finance, Business, renewable energy industry or related area.
  • Enthusiasm and passion for clean energy investing and financing.
  • Experience with financial modeling, investment structuring and analytics, preferably but not required to be from the energy sector.
  • Experience diligence or evaluating investments or strategic opportunities, including both quantitative and qualitative assessments.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities, with experience managing multiple projects and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in the renewable energy industry focused on origination, development, and/or financing of large-scale projects.
  • Experience operating in a large, global organization.
  • Understanding of both competitive and regulated energy markets.
  • Understanding of the renewable energy project development process and key drivers of project value.

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in driving Walmart's key energy strategic pillars of Enhancing Energy Security and Affordability, Building New Clean Energy Businesses, and Driving Progress Towards Emissions Reductions.
  • Spearhead Walmart's global clean energy investment strategy, leading the execution of a tax equity portfolio in high-impact projects that solve grid challenges and create value for Walmart and our communities.
  • Drive the full lifecycle of tax equity transactions, from origination and rigorous due diligence through financial modeling, partnership structuring, and successful execution.
  • Serve as the key cross-functional leader, collaborating with Energy, Tax, Controllership, Finance, and Legal teams to integrate tax credit investments with Walmart's broader corporate strategy and financial goals.
  • Oversee and optimize a sizeable tax equity portfolio, driving risk management, performance evaluation, and optimization strategies to maximize financial returns and tax benefits for the enterprise.
  • Act as the company's subject matter expert on tax-oriented financing structures, briefing executive leadership on market trends, risks, and new investment opportunities that advance Walmart's sustainability mission.
