About The Position

The role involves planning, monitoring, directing, and assigning workload to station staff to ensure efficient freight management. This includes ensuring that all documentation is completed correctly, compliance requirements are met, customer SOPs are followed, costs are controlled, and accounts are billed and paid accurately. The position also requires coaching and training all station staff, including cross-training employees and ensuring that all required MEC trainings are completed on time. The individual will work closely with MEC sales, management, and other internal team members to respond promptly to customer needs, suggest and implement corrective actions when issues arise, and take accountability for offering solutions to problems. Additionally, the role involves daily report monitoring to validate that KPIs are being met, maintaining and creating business relations with local vendors, and ensuring a proper understanding of warehousing operations where applicable. Other duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, with experience in air and ocean operations required.
  • Minimum 3 years of customer service experience with demonstrated standards that have exceeded expectations.
  • DG, Hazmat, TSA Certification.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms.
  • Experience handling bonded freight and out-of-gauge or project cargo required.
  • Basic understanding of warehouse and trucking operations required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to respond to requests with urgency.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and customer-service oriented.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office required, CW1 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, monitor, direct, and assign workload to station staff.
  • Ensure freight is managed efficiently, including completion of correct documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Coach and train all station staff, including cross-training employees.
  • Work closely with MEC sales, management, and other internal team members to respond to customer needs.
  • Proactively assist other members of MEC to achieve its vision and strategic goals.
  • Monitor daily reports to validate that KPIs are being met.
  • Work with District Manager to monitor P&L and provide oversight.
  • Maintain and create business relations with local vendors, including truckers and airline carriers.
  • Ensure proper understanding of warehousing operations for stations with warehouse operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
