About The Position

Grant Thornton is seeking a US Tax Manager to join the Internal Tax Group. Approved office locations can be found below. Position Summary The internal tax group is responsible for the firm’s tax matters. As the US Tax Manager, you will play a central role in managing the firm’s U.S. income tax compliance and tax provision processes. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and collaborate with colleagues across Federal, state, and international tax disciplines to ensure the firm meets its tax obligations, maintains a strong control environment, and delivers high‑quality tax reporting throughout the year. This role requires handling highly confidential information related to the firm and its partners, and maintaining strict confidentiality is essential. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum five to seven years of progressive tax consulting experience, preferably with at least three years focused on Federal taxation, including compliance and tax provision work
  • Experience with a large accounting firm, law firm, or corporate tax department of a multinational company
  • CPA or JD/active law license required
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills with proficiency in U.S. tax compliance and consulting
  • Strong computer expertise including knowledge of tax software and technology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Can travel as needed

Responsibilities

  • Manage the tax compliance process via co-sourcing arrangements, ensuring compliance across relevant jurisdictions, overseeing corporate and partnership return preparation, tracking key milestones, supporting audits and inquiries, as well as preparing quarterly estimates, filings and payments.
  • Preparing tax provision calculations and related workpapers, ensuring appropriate tax accounting and reconciliations, partnering with business units to understand tax impacts, and working with external auditors during annual and interim reviews.
  • Drive process improvements and controls by streamlining procedures, reporting, and documentation to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Monitor legislative and business developments to assess tax implications, provide tax guidance on commercial activities, identify and mitigate tax risks and ensure adherence to the firm’s tax strategy and policies.
  • Participate in special projects across Federal, state, and international tax areas, contributing to ad‑hoc initiatives throughout the year.
  • Collaborating with partners, managers, and teams across the network, demonstrating a desire to learn from others and proactively support colleagues working in Federal, state, and other tax disciplines
