About The Position

The Noblis MSD Pre-Commissioning Support Engineer plays a crucial role in providing pre-commissioning support to the ship's Prospective Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, and Department Heads. This position involves delivering both administrative and technical services in a collaborative environment that integrates government and Noblis MSD teams. The engineer will work closely with the Program Executive Office Ships, Supervisor of Shipbuilding Gulf Coast, and the ships' crews to ensure a smooth transition into fleet operations. In this role, the PRECOM Support Engineer will be responsible for coordinating assistance with SUPSHIP, Ship's Force, PEO Ships, and Type Commanders to address fleet requirements that may not be explicitly outlined in the ship's build requirements. This necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the building contract, ship specifications, and current fleet requirements. The engineering support provided will encompass various activities, including Limited Team Trainers, Crew Certifications, and coordination of Afloat Training Group and Squadron visits to facilitate waterfront requirements before and after the crew moves aboard. Additionally, the engineer will conduct ship checks as requested by PEO, ATG, and Ship's Force, assist with Light Off Assessment hot/cold checks, and manage the choreography of engineering evolutions, which may involve contractor-performed checks. The role also includes supporting the ship's force with administrative program reviews and implementing procedures as per the ATG Afloat Self Assessment check sheets. It is important to note that assistance may be required across all ship departments, not limited to the Engineering Department. As a Career Band 1 employee, the engineer is expected to learn and apply Noblis' standard principles, concepts, processes, structure, techniques, tools, and methodologies to solve routine real-world problems using basic skills. This position operates under close supervision, following direction and guidance from more experienced colleagues.
