About The Position

The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) is an award-winning, independent global non-profit research organization dedicated to designing and implementing policies that address the impacts of the global transportation sector on climate change and public health. We provide high-quality, data-driven research to public officials, as well as to civil society and industry. Our mission-driven and diverse workplace values intelligence, flexibility, transparency, and good humor. The ICCT is looking for a summer Fuels Intern based in our San Francisco office. This internship provides an exciting opportunity to contribute your research and analytical skills to work that drives real-world impact and advances ICCT's goals. You will report to a Senior Researcher on the Fuels team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree in engineering, environmental science, environmental policy, energy and resources, or other relevant subject
  • Strong research, analysis, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Proficiency in or R (preferred) or Python for data analysis
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in energy, transportation, climate change or related topics
  • Excellent interpersonal and English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and engage effectively with team members.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct scientific literature reviews.
  • Conduct quantitative or qualitative analyses to support ongoing research- topics may include hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuel
  • Write internal memos on specific policy or technical topics.
  • Author or co-author ICCT publications, such as working papers.
  • Present your work to internal audiences.
