Anticipated End Date: August 14, 2026 – All interns must be in office and in person on their last day to return equipment. Interns must be located in the same location throughout the duration of their internship and are prohibited from returning laptop/equipment to a different office location or shipping their equipment back. Position Summary: The US Institutional Sales team is responsible for driving new business and deepening relationships with institutional investors across the country, including public and corporate pension plans, endowments, foundations, OCIOs, and consultants. We partner closely with our investment affiliates across public and private markets to position Franklin Templeton’s strategies, respond to RFPs and due diligence requests, and ensure a coordinated, high-quality experience for our clients and prospects. This internship is a great fit for a student who wants a front-row seat to how large institutional investors make asset allocation and manager selection decisions. You’ll gain exposure to a broad range of asset classes (fixed income, equities, and alternatives), learn how institutional sales pipelines are built and managed, and see how a global asset manager competes for mandates in a very crowded marketplace. You will support live initiatives—client meetings, RFPs, pipeline analysis, and market/peer research—so your work will directly feed into conversations with some of the most sophisticated investors in the industry. The role sits at the intersection of markets, products, and client engagement, and offers an excellent foundation for future opportunities in asset management, distribution, or consulting. Team Culture: The US Institutional Sales team is collaborative, high-energy, and client-focused. We work closely with our investment teams, consultant relations, product strategy, and marketing partners to present a unified Franklin Templeton story to the market. · Team-oriented: we share information, ideas, and best practices so everyone can be more effective with their clients. · Fast-paced but supportive: priorities can move quickly around client needs, but there is a strong emphasis on mentorship and helping junior team members develop. · Cross-functional: interns will interact with multiple groups across the firm (investment affiliates, RFP, marketing, data/analytics) and see how each contributes to winning and retaining business. An intern in this department can expect to learn: · How institutional investors (pension plans, OCIOs, consultants, etc.) evaluate asset managers and make mandate decisions. · How to analyze and summarize investment strategies (e.g., fixed income, EMD, investment-grade credit, alternatives) and position them relative to peers and benchmarks. · How sales pipelines are managed and reported, including use of CRM tools, market/peer data, and internal analytics to prioritize opportunities and track progress. · How cross-functional teams coordinate to prepare for client meetings, RFPs, finals presentations, and consultant interactions.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate student (rising junior or senior) with strong academic performance and an interest in investments, capital markets, or institutional asset management.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with comfort working in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize information and present it in a concise, professional format.
  • Proactive, curious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders and changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated interest in finance, economics, or related fields (coursework, clubs, prior internships, or self-directed learning).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with data/CRM tools is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the sales team with prospect and client research, including reviewing public plan documents, consultant reports, and peer/competitor information to prepare for meetings.
  • Assisting with pipeline analytics and reporting (e.g., updating CRM entries, preparing summary reports or dashboards on opportunities, activity, and trends).
  • Helping prepare and refine client-facing materials such as meeting decks, follow-up notes, case studies, and overview materials for key strategies and affiliates.
  • Partnering with product, RFP, and marketing teams on ad-hoc projects, such as compiling data for RFP responses, organizing materials for finals presentations, or tracking consultant ratings/approvals.
  • Conducting light market/industry research on topics relevant to institutional clients (e.g., manager searches, asset allocation trends, high-level regulatory or policy developments).
