About The Position

As the U.S. Emergencies Information Management & Data Visualization Fellow (Intern), you'll be integral to our work in helping vulnerable children achieve a brighter future. You will support the Save the Children U.S. Emergencies Team in strengthening how we collect, analyze, and visualize data across domestic disaster response programs. Your work will help ensure timely, data-driven decisions in critical program areas such as cash assistance, in-kind distributions, education in emergencies, and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS). Through your efforts, you will help bring clarity and insight to programs that directly impact children and families affected by crises across the United States.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate program in international development, data science, public health, emergency management, or a related field
  • Strong skills in data analysis and visualization (Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GIS/mapping tools (ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar)
  • Knowledge of humanitarian or disaster response frameworks
  • Familiarity with data collection and management tools such as Kobo, Power Apps, or Airtable
  • Previous experience or coursework related to MHPSS, cash assistance, or education in emergencies

Responsibilities

  • Support information management and data tracking across Save the Children's U.S. Emergencies portfolio, including cash assistance, education in emergencies, and MHPSS programs (40%)
  • Develop visually compelling dashboards, charts, and reports that summarize key data for decision-making and external reporting (25%)
  • Monitor in-kind material flows and assist with knowledge management systems, supporting accurate and timely data collection and reporting (20%)
  • Contribute to GIS mapping and spatial data visualization to help identify community needs and program reach (10%)
  • Collaborate with team members to improve data systems, documentation, and process efficiency (5%)
