About The Position

JORI is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a full-time position within their USA Customs Department. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, clear communication skills (both written and verbal), and a strong customer service orientation. This role is not a typical operational position; candidates are expected to be resourceful, contribute innovative ideas, and collaborate effectively with colleagues across all departments to deliver the best possible service to clients.

Requirements

  • Analytical skills

  • Ability to work flexible schedules and certain weekends
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Customers through phone calls and emails
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience with US Customs Procedures

Responsibilities

  • Entry writing for truck/ocean/air clearances
  • Complete entry summaries of US Rail Customs Declarations for new and existing accounts
  • Problem solve day-to-day operational issues
  • Solve entry problems
  • File border entries/ISFs
  • Monitor in-bond movements for in-transit entries
  • Ensure data is entered into Cargowise for transmission of Entry Summary
  • Check EDI failures for rail shipments (especially during the weekends)
  • Provide outstanding customer service when communicating with clients
  • Request missing data from reports, commercial invoices, etc.
  • Perform audit review on all assigned brokerage files and payments to customs
  • Maintain and keep current all customs compliance documentation
  • Process documents through the Cargowise, obtaining Customs release and other government agency releases as appropriate
  • Complete invoicing of the import account for services rendered
  • Review and monitor all Customs rejections, requests for information for clients and any other government agency, and correspondence
  • Adhere to all domestic and international shipping regulations
  • Mandatory daily correspondence with overseas offices
  • Work closely with other departments to deliver a high level of service to customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
