About The Position

This remote, full-time position involves producing, organizing, and planning the scripting, recording, and delivery of audio descriptions for television content across multiple clients in the English-language operation. Audio description provides a secondary soundtrack that describes on-screen action, locations, and characters, integrated seamlessly with program dialogue, music, and sound effects. You will work from a quiet home environment with high-speed internet, using your clear speaking voice to record descriptions and your strong editing skills to ensure quality. This role collaborates with team leadership to manage productivity and performance aligned with Key Performance Indicators, while identifying cost savings and process improvements. Your work schedule follows a shift pattern reflecting team working hours, and you'll report to the Head of Audio Description while working closely with UK Production Managers, the Audio Description Excellence Lead, and US freelance audio describers.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Strong writing and scripting skills for both creative and factual content
  • Extensive vocabulary, excellent language skills, and strong visual awareness
  • Clear understanding of the needs and preferences of visually impaired audiences
  • Appreciation for diverse film and television content
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines independently or collaboratively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across internal teams and with external clients
  • Collaborative approach with flexibility and eagerness to learn
  • Focused, self-motivated mindset with strong initiative and innovative problem-solving

Responsibilities

  • Write scripts and record audio descriptions for diverse television programming
  • Conduct background research on programs and gather information from all available sources
  • Meet production targets for scripting and voicing work while ensuring team members achieve the same
  • Monitor scripts and recordings to ensure accuracy and quality aligned with organizational and client standards
  • Plan, allocate, and manage audio description production across clients efficiently to meet Service Level Agreements
  • Identify workflow and process improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Deliver introductory training to new team members and support ongoing skill development
  • Share line management and performance management responsibilities for Audio Description staff
  • Contribute to audio description editorial policy, standards, and staff assessments
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Access Services and production areas to ensure optimal service delivery
  • Continuously develop your voicing and scripting skills

  • Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan: Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit’s objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Matching and company automatic contributions stop when your total eligible pay for the year reaches the IRS limits. Employees also have the option to participate in Ericsson’s Stock Purchase Plan.
  • New employees are provided a minimum of 15 days of accrued vacation, up to 3 personal days per year, 11 annual holidays, 8 hours of volunteer time, and 80 hours of sick time annually. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee’s start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
