The Opportunity We are looking for a dedicated, skilled Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to join our clinical team full time. This position is mainly a phone nurse position that will typically work clinic 1 day a week for 1 provider. This is a Monday through Friday, outpatient clinic setting — no nights, no weekends, no holidays. Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong triage and clinical assessment abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and phone triage systems
  • Completed program for LPN or RN with active State of Florida RN/LPN License in good standing
  • CPR certified.
  • Previous experience working with patients in either a hospital or office setting (Urology preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Answer patient phone calls and messages promptly and professionally
  • Assist patients with clinical questions and provide appropriate guidance
  • Triage clinical calls to determine urgency and necessary follow-up
  • Support clinic operations by working in the clinic on Wednesdays for one provider
  • Document patient interactions accurately in the electronic health record system
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care
  • Escort patients back to exam rooms, prepares patient for physician
  • Work one on one with physicians to assist in the daily clinical care of the urological patient
  • Set up office surgical trays, while maintaining sterility
  • Take vital signs and obtain a short explanation of the reason for the patient visit.
  • Draw blood, place and remove foley and SP catheters, remove drains, staples, and stitches
  • Review the electronic medical record, including past medical, social, surgical, and family history along with medications and ensure proper documentation
  • Verbally or electronically refill medications and correspond with insurance companies, referring physicians and others when appropriate
  • Take patient phone calls throughout the day, confer with the physician when appropriate, and document appropriately
  • Make sure exam rooms are stocked and clean
  • Ensure each patient has a follow up visit as needed
  • Check charts at the end of the day to make sure that everything has been done and signed off
  • Keeps informed and practices universal precautions. Keeps current on CEU’s
  • Covers other nurses as needed
  • Educate patients appropriately
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and strict HIPAA compliance
