About The Position

The UroGyn Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) position's primary duties include specialty care services, including assessing and managing urogynecology patients while following established standards and practices, supporting our surgical practice with post operative care, and on call availability. Duties also include surgical assistance and a variety of procedures in clinic. We treat all aspects of Urogynecology and our advanced practice clinicians play a critical role in the care of our patients and supporting WHA's surgical practice. Advanced Practice Clinicians must be certified in and licensed in at least one of the following positions and hold the requirements listed below: • Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) - Position includes surgical first assist training • Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Position includes surgical first assist training. • Physician Assistant (PA)

Requirements

  • Women's health experience, required.
  • If a CERTIFIED NURSE MIDWIFE • Master of Science degree in Nursing, required. • Current unrestricted Oregon RN license, required. • Graduate of a Certified Nurse Midwife education program accredited by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) and current certification as a Nurse Midwife by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB). • Current Oregon state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive privileges (NPPP), required. • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and CPR certification, required. • Surgical Assist experience preferred
  • If a NURSE PRACTIONER • Master of Science in Nursing required. Successful completion of advanced practitioner training and certification as a practitioner from an approved nurse practitioner program. • Current Oregon RN license required, and Washington RN license preferred. • Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) preferred or the equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience and/or current certification as a Nurse Midwife. • Current Oregon state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive privileges (NP-PP) required. • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and CPR certification required. • Surgical Assist experience preferred
  • If a PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT • Master's degree in physician assistant studies. • Current unrestricted Oregon PA license required. • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and CPR certification required. • Professional medical experience in a clinic setting required, with previous physician assistant experience in women’s health, gynecology, obstetrics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides medical care, consultation, collaboration, coordination, and referral.
  • Assesses and documents patients’ status and needs through patient interviews and chart reviews. Prioritizes and counsels accordingly. Performs appropriate physical examinations. Seeks other information as needed, including consultation with physicians and other clinicians for evaluation of illness.
  • Order, performs and signs off appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests and consultations.
  • Performs procedures (including minor office procedures) and assists with surgeries according to scope of licensure. Demonstrates necessary procedure and surgical skill, dexterity, and competency with equipment.
  • Differentiates between normal findings and those that require treatment.
  • Formulates and documents patient’s health care plans incorporating the participation of the patient and other health care professionals.
  • Communicates appropriate case management information to other healthcare professionals, clinician team.
  • Provides monitoring and continuity of care between visits according to treatment plan including triaging patient calls.
  • Promotes wellness philosophy by encouraging self-care and prevention of illness using education, counseling and written materials.
  • Completes timely clinical and patient documentation in electronic medical record (EMR) according to WHA guidelines.
  • Continuously identifies opportunities to meet and/or exceed patient needs and expectations.
  • Remains up-to-date and follows appropriate coding and documentation standards including timely and accurate submission of both inpatient and outpatient charges.
  • Adheres to prescribed standards of practice and established quality assurance levels.
  • Provide call phone support, as needed.
