About The Position

The Urgent Care Technician at Bloomingdale's Immediate Care facility is responsible for providing direct patient care in collaboration with registered nurses and licensed practitioners. This full-time role involves performing various medical procedures, triaging patients, and ensuring their comfort and safety. The technician will work in a fast-paced environment, addressing urgent medical needs and assisting with a range of clinical tasks.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • EMT-Paramedic Certification required.
  • CPR Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in an acute care environment.
  • 1-2 years of experience starting IVs, drawing blood, and administering injections.

Nice To Haves

  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certifications a plus.
  • Phlebotomy certification within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to assigned patients in collaboration with the RN on duty.
  • Perform patient care tasks such as venipuncture, IV insertion and removal, and vital signs monitoring.
  • Triage patients in the ICC or Express care, assessing urgency and need for medical attention.
  • Complete patient rounds and respond to requests from nurses and physicians.
  • Draw blood, start IVs, administer prescribed injections, and assist with personal care needs.
  • Document clinical test results and complete daily/weekly/monthly checklists.
  • Apply orthopedic splints and educate patients on mobility aids.
  • Assist physicians with suturing, wound cleansing, and procedural setups.
  • Respond to call lights and assist with activities of daily living.
  • Participate in quality improvement and sustainability activities.
