About The Position

The Urgent Care RN/LPN position in Hyannis is designed to provide professional nursing care and support for patients receiving treatment and evaluation in an urgent care center. The role involves assisting in initiating care under the direct supervision of a provider, ensuring patient identification, conducting intake and assessments, performing point of care testing, and executing provider-ordered treatments. The nurse will also be responsible for patient education, maintaining medical records, assisting in urgent care procedures, and ensuring the proper functioning of medical equipment and supplies. The position requires a commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality, as well as participation in staff development activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Previous IV insertion/therapy skills.
  • Acute care experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) for RN position.
  • Previous Urgent Care/Emergency Department experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in initiating care in the Urgent Care setting under the direct supervision of the provider.
  • Correctly identify patients by asking name and date of birth.
  • Conduct intake, assessment, point of care testing, and provider-ordered treatments.
  • Document all current medical history, medications, and allergies within the EMR.
  • Assist providers in urgent care procedures such as EKGs, dressing changes, suture removal, ear lavages, splinting, injections, IV insertion, and IV infusions.
  • Maintain and stock all rooms, IV carts, and other supplies as needed.
  • Check all equipment to ensure proper working order.
  • Return patient phone calls to answer general medical questions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information.
  • Assess personal and learning developmental needs and act as a resource for other staff and patients.
  • Participate in staff meetings and activities that promote nursing and patient care development.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and communicate politely with department employees, patients, and visitors.
  • Perform other work duties as requested.
  • Consistently provide service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
