About The Position

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Emergency Medicine seek an Urgent Care Physician (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Fairmont, WV. Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these additional locations. The Fairmont Gateway Clinic Urgent Care location will be embedded in a multispecialty clinic with direct access to many of our specialists and full lab and radiology support. The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia’s largest health system and the state’s largest employer. The system has undergone significant expansion in specialty and sub-specialty care in areas such as cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience, among many others. The Health System operates West Virginia’s first and only multi-organ transplant center, and opened a new, 150-bed Children’s Hospital in September 2022. Today, the UVU Health System has more than 2,400 licensed beds, 3900 providers, and nearly 30,000 employees. Anchored by a 700-bed academic medical center in Morgantown, the Health System includes more than 20 member hospitals that collectively serve a multi-state region that includes West Virginia, Western Maryland, Eastern Ohio, and Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent.
  • Eligible for state medical license.
  • Board certified/eligible in said residency specialty.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Practice in the area of Urgent Care.
  • Provide excellent patient care.
  • Actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
