About The Position

NextCare Urgent Care is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Fredericksburg, VA clinic. In this role, you will treat a diverse patient population, manage a wide range of urgent care conditions, and practice with a high degree of independence while supported by physician oversight, standardized clinical protocols, and a collaborative care team.

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted Virginia license
  • NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant or ANCC/AANP-certified Nurse Practitioner
  • Family practice scope with comfort treating patients from pediatrics through geriatrics
  • Active DEA registration
  • BLS certification
  • Comfort practicing independently in an urgent care setting
  • Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays
  • DOT certification preferred or willingness to obtain (training provided at no cost)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track ER settings
  • Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, and wound care
  • Experience with initial X-ray interpretation

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat urgent care patients across the lifespan
  • Manage common urgent care presentations, including acute illness, injuries, and minor procedures
  • Perform and interpret basic diagnostics, including X-ray, EKG, and laboratory testing
  • Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions clearly and effectively
  • Document care accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record
  • Maintain clinical productivity consistent with urgent care standards
  • Deliver care in alignment with NextCare’s clinical, ethical, and quality expectations
