The position is for an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in an Urgent Care setting. Eligible candidates may receive loan repayment assistance through the NHSC Loan Repayment Program (NHSC LRP) or the NHSC Students to Service Loan Repayment Program (NHSC S2S LRP) in exchange for at least two years of service at an NHSC-approved site in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA).

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program
  • Currently licensed in the state of Wisconsin with at least one year of clinical experience
  • Must have the patience and tact to deal with the patient population and the ability to work effectively in the urgent care environment.
  • A minimum commitment of 1 weekend/month is required.
  • Mandatory vaccination for all employees, employed providers, and volunteers; proof of vaccination must be submitted prior to orientation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in an urgent care or emergency department is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide urgent health care for individuals under the supervision of a licensed physician.
  • Elicit detailed patient histories and conduct complete physician examinations.
  • Reach diagnosis independently and in consultation with a collaborating Physician, as well as other staff physicians when appropriate.
