About The Position

Kimley-Horn's San Antonio, Texas (TX) office is seeking an Urban Planner with 3+ years of experience to join their Urban Planning team! This is not a remote position. The ideal candidate will an informed advocate for community-driven planning, with experience working on a range of planning projects. Project experiences will be diverse, supporting various project managers and collaborating with team members.

Requirements

  • Degree (Bachelors or Masters) in Urban and Regional Planning, and a second degree or area of study in a related field, such as landscape architecture, engineering, geography, economics, or public administration
  • 3+ years of directly related experience
  • Proficiency in graphic software programs (Adobe Photoshop, Sketchup, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Working knowledge of GIS/ArcView
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills as well as advanced mapping or zoning experience - work samples may be requested
  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team

Nice To Haves

  • American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP) Certification Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Help deliver exceptional planning solutions to our clients.
  • Actively contribute to our teams work on diverse project assignments.
  • Assist team members in preparing for and facilitating public meetings.
  • Deliver graphically communicative work.
  • Building relationships with current and future clients.
  • Attend project meetings as needed, including public hearings, stakeholder meetings and community engagement events, and assist with meeting facilitation.
  • Manage virtual engagement tools to reach broader audiences.
  • Create clear, concise, and well-organized technical documents summarizing a variety of planning topics.
  • Analyze spatial and statistical data, create maps, and support data-driven planning decisions.
  • Create graphic materials for public engagement tools, including boards, flyers, posters, and digital platforms.
  • Organize and maintain project documentation.
