Over a typical schedule of 8–12 weeks, you’ll be fully embedded in project teams alongside planners, engineers, and landscape architects—contributing to transformative public realm and active transportation projects from day one. You’ll be involved in all phases of design, from stakeholder outreach and workshops to construction documents and administration, performing analysis, using 2D/3D modeling tools and creating illustrative graphics. Working closely with clients, communities, and colleagues, you’ll help shape and reimagine streets, parks, and trail systems across the country. We are targeting a salary range of $19 to $23 per hour for this position. Interns generally work 40 hours per week, four days in the office with the option to work from home on Fridays. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an Urban Design program; graduate students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Academic or practical experience in urban design, public realm design, or related fields such as landscape architecture or architecture
  • Strong ability to quickly learn new urban design concepts, tools, and workflows
  • Strong visual communication skills, including diagramming, mapping, and design storytelling; hand or digital sketching is a plus
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop) for layout, graphics, and analysis
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation, or a demonstrated willingness to learn
  • Experience with urban design and visualization tools such as Rhino, SketchUp, or Lumion, or willingness to learn
  • Demonstrated interest in active transportation, multimodal streets, and people-centered urban environments
