About The Position

The UPS Battery Technician at Amazon is a critical role within the Operations Services team, responsible for the preventative maintenance of UPS batteries in data centers. This position requires a highly motivated individual who can work autonomously and collaboratively with various teams to ensure the reliability and availability of critical infrastructure. The technician will apply preventative maintenance techniques, promote safety, and interact with engineers and project managers to develop innovative solutions to operational challenges.

Requirements

• 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience, or 1+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience (e.g., hospital, military facility, public safety facility).
• High school or equivalent diploma.

Nice To Haves

• 2+ years of data center engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Apply preventative maintenance testing techniques in support of maintaining UPS batteries across our fleet of data centers.
• Act as an ambassador for safety within the team and promote safe working across the site.
• Remain cognizant of and act in compliance with all security protocols.
• Interact with engineers, technicians, project managers, and management on a daily basis.
• Work with engineers to develop detailed and creative solutions to complex problems, while keeping a watchful eye on timelines and costs.
• Develop and maintain a good working relationship across all levels in the organization.
• Ensure consistency in deployed configurations and track exceptions for follow up.
• Execute predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
• Provide support for LSE, weather events, planned, and unplanned outages.
• Provide cross-functional support for Generator, EPG, ATS, and Non-destructive testing teams.
• Perform basic support concepts such as ticketing systems, root cause analysis, change management creation, writing procedures, and building management systems.
