About The Position

The Team Leader will direct and lead all employees within the posted operation in the absence of the Production Supervisor. This role requires the ability to read, write, and perform basic math, as well as read blueprints and applicable measuring devices. The Team Leader will troubleshoot problems and assist the Production Supervisor in completing production schedules, evaluating employee performance, managing productivity and quality to determined levels, coordinating employee training, and maintaining company policies and a safe work environment. The position also involves observing all safety policies and quality requirements for the area, performing 5-S audits, inputting work orders, and providing suggestions for decreasing operator influenced errors. Daily responsibilities include performing OPPM's, completing daily safety checks, filling out daily logs, collecting operator concerns, analyzing rejections, aligning product to and from operations, ensuring proper tooling ordering and availability, and conducting operator start-up meetings. The Team Leader will also lead team stretching activities and train current employees within the Team Leader area.

  • Ability to work with engineering and manufacturing personnel to solve tooling and/or process capability issues.
  • Must not have more than a 1st Written Warning for Quality within the past 2 years.
  • Past history of quality, scrap, attendance, and safety will be reviewed prior to the interview process.
  • Willingness and ability to assume leadership roles and responsibilities.
  • Must be able to hold employees accountable to ensure rules within the Company handbook are being followed.
  • Must be or become a member of an Employee Involvement Team.
  • Must possess an understanding of part functionality.
  • Flexibility to work other shifts if needed.
  • Must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and lead all employees within the posted operation in the absence of the Production Supervisor.
  • Troubleshoot problems.
  • Assist the Production Supervisor in completing production schedules and evaluating employee performance.
  • Manage productivity and quality to determined levels.
  • Coordinate employee training and maintain company policies and a safe work environment.

  • Fill out daily log for number of pieces per hour and review with supervisor if goals are not achieved.
  • Collect operators' concerns and provide resolutions.
  • Provide input for employee corrective action.
  • Analyze rejections to determine root cause.
  • Align product to and from operations.
  • Ensure proper tooling ordering and availability.
  • Help with set-ups and getting parts in specification.
  • Perform daily quality checks and layered audits.
  • Deal with attendance issues to ensure coverage.
  • Provide feedback for employee reviews.
  • Conduct operator start-up meetings.
  • Lead team in daily stretching activities.
  • Train current employees within Team Leader area.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
