About The Position

Hammond School seeks a dynamic, student-centered Upper School Mathematics Teacher to join our faculty beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will bring strong content knowledge in mathematics and a deep understanding of effective pedagogy for adolescents. This educator will design classrooms where rigorous academic standards are paired with relational trust - spaces in which students feel supported enough to take intellectual risks and challenged enough to grow. We are looking for a teacher who understands that excellence in mathematics instruction is not only about mastery of content, but about cultivating habits of mind such as analytical reasoning, persistence, precision, and curiosity. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious and committed to continued professional growth. They collaborate thoughtfully with colleagues on curriculum alignment and instructional practice, contribute to meaningful conversations about teaching and learning, and approach their work with both reflection and energy. Just as important, they find genuine joy in working with high school students and recognize the privilege of shaping young people during a formative season of their lives. Clear communication, organization, responsiveness, and integrity are hallmarks of our faculty, and we seek a colleague who embodies those qualities.
