Upper School Dean of Academics
About The Position
Moravian Academy seeks a visionary Dean of Academics to partner with our Upper School Director in cultivating a culture of instructional excellence at our Merle-Smith Campus. This is an opportunity for an educator who thrives at the intersection of strategic leadership and hands-on teaching. The Opportunity As Dean of Academics, you'll serve as the instructional heartbeat of our Upper School-coaching faculty, strengthening curriculum coherence, and nurturing innovation in teaching and learning. You'll teach a one-credit course while partnering with department chairs to build collaborative structures that activate student thinking and deepen pedagogical craft. This role requires someone who Discovers through Curiosity -modeling continuous learning, and embracing research-informed practices alongside colleagues. You'll Engage in Community through visible leadership, building trust with students, faculty, and families while creating structures that empower teachers to collaborate and share practice. Your work will Strive for Excellence as you guide faculty in curriculum review, design signature programs, and ensure assessment practices that support student growth. Above all, you'll Act with Integrity as an instructional coach who provides evidence-based feedback and upholds the highest standards of professional practice.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field
- Minimum five years of successful secondary teaching experience
- Experience with instructional leadership, faculty coaching, and curriculum development
- Deep understanding of adolescent development and research-based teaching practices
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
