26-27 Upper School Chemistry Teacher
About The Position
St. Catherine's School seeks a committed, enthusiastic, and expert educator in Chemistry to serve as Upper School Chemistry instructor for the school term 2026-27. The Upper School Science Department implements girl-centered strategies, personalized instruction, and innovative technology to provide students with a strong foundation in science in order to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century. The Department strives to provide accessible and challenging coursework as well as support for all students, regardless of ability, to achieve their potential. As a member of the Science Department, the faculty member should have the ability and be prepared to teach other science classes besides Chemistry.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or the teaching of Chemistry (Master’s preferred)
- Experience in and passion for teaching Chemistry at the Upper School level
- Ability to teach other Upper School science classes besides Chemistry
- Demonstrated creative and energetic teaching
- Strong classroom management skills
- Articulate current trends in Chemistry education and proven history of implementation of these trends
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills in working with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators, both oral and written
- Facility with and strong implementation of educational technologies
- Uphold the high standards of the School’s established program
Nice To Haves
- Ability to coach a sport is desired
Responsibilities
- Create a classroom community based on the School's core values
- Implement and uphold the School’s access, equity, and belonging initiatives
- Teach four courses in the Science Department with a primary responsibility of teaching Chemistry
- Work collaboratively with and align with colleagues teaching same-level courses
- Serve as an Upper School academic advisor
- Sponsor extracurricular activities
- Assist in leading the Upper School’s Saints Explore experiential learning program
- Serve on School life committees when requested
- Find joy in working with students and the wider School community both in teaching and taking part in the broader life of the School
