Upper Elementary Lead Second Grade Teacher
About The Position
The Blake School is seeking an exceptional, dedicated Second Grade Lead teacher to join our highly collaborative Upper Elementary program (grades 2-5) starting in the 2026-27 school year. Blake will cover travel and lodging costs for finalist candidates visiting from out of town. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree and teaching credential preferred)
- Minimum five years lead teaching experience working with elementary-age students
Responsibilities
- Embrace Blake’s mission and values and commitment to pluralism
- Collaborate with grade-level team and division colleagues to plan and implement an appropriately challenging curriculum in reading/language arts, math, science and social studies
- Promote academic, social-emotional and physical development of children in individual, small group and whole-class settings
- Assess students using current strategies and tools to inform instruction and give feedback
- Complete progress reports and participate in twice-yearly parent-teacher conferences
- Supervise children during lunch and afternoon carpool
- Integrate meaningful and appropriate use of technology within the curriculum and as a communication tool
- Attend Back-to-School Night, admissions open house, faculty workshop days, grade-level and division meetings, relevant all-school events and all mandatory professional development
