Works under minimal supervision to fabricate, cover and assemble flat and curved panels. Sew more complex/detailed covers and curtains using design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications. Work with fabric, vinyl and leather hides, composites and other materials using specified adhesives, sewing equipment, hardware, hand tools and various power tools. Fit panels and windows, cabin head liners, upper sidewalls, lower side panels, hatch panels, windows, cut and bind carpets, cover bulkheads and coverings. Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies and use personal protective equipment as required. Address unsafe conditions before putting people or property at risk. Uses a variety of hand and power tools/equipment and basic measuring instruments. Ability to read and write to interpret basic drawings. Ability to work from detailed instructions and minor decision making. Be able to use your fingertips and pinch material to pull. Ability to train others on upholstery operations. Performs other related duties. General supervision needed in order the complete tasks plus additional on the job training required. Needs assistance to find solutions in order to solve problems. Listens to concerns and responds appropriately based on feedback given through the learning curve. Will learn to identify the need for improvements and be open to new ideas.
