About The Position

In this role, you will provide specialized field engineering support focused on instrumentation systems and controls. Responsibilities include developing and managing work packages for instrument installation, calibration, and testing; coordinating material requisitions and ensuring proper handling of sensitive instrumentation equipment; and maintaining adherence to safety and quality standards. Your technical expertise and recommendations will help ensure all field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and align with quality standards, project requirements, and the overall UPF mission.

Requirements

  • Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance standards required on NNSA/DOE projects.
  • Good working knowledge of current design codes and standards such as ACI, AISC, ASME, as well as NQA-1 requirements.
  • Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns.
  • Advanced working knowledge of instrumentation and control (I&C) systems, including calibration, loop testing, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
  • Leads preparation of construction drawings and schedules and the design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of 'as built' drawings and other job plans.
  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
  • Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.
