About The Position

The University Police Officer I at SUNY Delhi is responsible for enforcing New York State and local laws, as well as the Student Code of Conduct. Requirements

• Must be reachable for appointment on the current Civil Service eligible list for University Police Officer I.
• Must have previously held the title of University Police Officer I or be eligible for transfer.
• Meet established physical and medical requirements prior to appointment.
• Satisfy all SUNY University Police requirements.
• Possess and maintain a valid unrestricted New York State motor vehicle operator's license.
• Legally eligible to carry a firearm and maintain certification requirements as a police officer in New York State.

• Completion of 60 semester credit hours of college study for promotion requirements.

Responsibilities

• Enforce New York State and local laws, and the Student Code of Conduct.
• Perform full range of professional police duties under Criminal Procedure Law.
• Assist local, state, and federal police with investigations.
• Collect evidence, question witnesses, and testify in court as needed.
• Educate community members on personal safety, risk awareness, and crime prevention.
• Engage in crime prevention activities, crowd control, and patrol duties.
• Manage traffic safety and control, and perform radio dispatching.
