About The Position

Under the direction of the supervising mentor teacher, the University Paid Student Teacher will support PESD teachers to ensure delivery of the written, taught, and tested curriculum using effective teaching practices identified by Pendergast School District and aligned to the TAP teacher evaluation instrument.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a University Paid Student Teaching Program
  • Demonstrate knowledge in curriculum, instruction, and assessments
  • Excellent written and oral communications and presentation skills
  • Skilled at working with others in a professional learning environment, including modeling effective teaching practices
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several concrete variables
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret education materials and programs; ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers, students, administration, and the community.
  • Ability to work with mathematical such as probability and statistical inference; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle, or feel objects, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with data analysis that informs instructional practices and curriculum delivery.
  • Develops demonstration lessons with pre and post discussions and analysis
  • Participates in planning with mentor teachers, implementing and evaluating adopted district-wide curriculum, instruction, assessments, and programs.
  • Participates in PESD staff development
  • Participates collaboratively as a school leader in the area of instructional improvement
  • Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum and assessment.
  • Support teachers with Educator Goal Plan and District initiatives while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Perform such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent/Designee
