Requirements

  • Major in a related field such as Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Engineering etc.
  • Must be a current Undergraduate or Graduate student and have completed at least 2 years of college academic coursework
  • Must be in good academic standing and be passionate about Microbiology, Cell Biology, and Biochemistry
  • Completed lab coursework in Microbiology with hands-on techniques such as aseptic techniques, gram staining, and culture methods.
  • Have excellent communication skills and ability to work in teams
  • Highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment with a desire to learn and tackle new challenges
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S
  • Due to the nature of our business and information associated with this position, interested candidates must be US Citizens or Permanent Resident.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional experience in fluorescent microscopy and fluorescent flow cytometry is a plus.
  • Experience handling/culturing BSL-1 and BSL-2 bacteria, fungi, and viruses highly desirable.
  • Cell culturing experience is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • The Intern will gain advanced, workforce technical skills
  • Work both as part of a team and independently to perform experiments, collect data, and creatively solve complex problems
  • Document project progress and communicate results to team members
  • Prepare and maintain bacterial and fungal strains for use in experiments
  • Execute validated protocols and/or microbiological studies
  • Work with the research team to identify potential improvements in experimental techniques and help implement changes as needed
  • May assist in the development of experimental protocols and standard operating procedures for microbial culturing, quantification, and other techniques
  • May perform product and materials testing for Sterility, Decontamination, and Inactivation studies.
  • Work with internal and external resources to maintain lab in an optimal state
  • Maintain mammalian cell culture
  • Assist in assay development
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and safety standards
  • Perform other duties, as required
