About the position

The Universal Operations Specialist II at Columbia Bank is responsible for supervising teller operations and overseeing the training of Universal Bankers. This role includes managing daily teller activities, ensuring security protocols are followed, and assisting in achieving branch goals. The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to handle various banking transactions while maintaining a high level of customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises teller operations and is directly responsible for the teller portion of Universal Banking training.
  • Schedules hours and work assignments for all teller personnel.
  • Participates in performance appraisals for teller staff.
  • Ensures daily consolidation of teller sheets across all categories.
  • Researches and resolves problems related to the teller area.
  • Maintains security for the teller area, negotiable items, and vault operations.
  • Approves transactions on selected deposit accounts, verifying signatures and endorsements on withdrawals exceeding teller limits.
  • Processes return items and items sent and received for collection.
  • Handles uncollected and overdrafts for the branch as assigned.
  • Researches items and accounts to determine necessary actions.
  • Performs all teller activities as required for the Universal Banker position.
  • Assists in the new accounts area when necessary.
  • Handles adjustments to accounts and certificates, and processes business account transactions.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of teller, platform, and supervisory experience.
  • High school diploma, GED, or higher education.
  • Strong knowledge of banking products and services.
  • Sound judgment in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Precise figure aptitude and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong PC skills with demonstrated knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to understand customer financial needs and introduce them to bank team members.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor teller staff.
