About The Position

The Universal Banker Trainee position at Midland States Bank is designed for individuals who are eager to deliver exceptional customer experiences while gaining knowledge in banking products and services.   • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and transport coin and currency bags weighing between 25lbs and 50lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent customer experiences to current and potential customers.
  • Display effective communication skills and knowledge of banking products and services.
  • Offer referral opportunities to enhance customer service outcomes.
  • Receive cash and checks for deposit, verifying amounts and endorsements.
  • Examine cash carefully to guard against counterfeit bills.
  • Cashes checks for customers in accordance with bank policy.
  • Enter transactions into the computer system and issue receipts.
  • Provide accurate customer service, including balancing the cash drawer throughout the day.
  • Assist with basic deposit account openings and maintenance requests under supervision.
  • Develop sales and product knowledge to achieve personal and team goals.
  • Track and monitor sales and opportunities in customer information software.
  • Participate in onsite visits to promote Employee Perks at Work Program & Merchant Services.
  • Engage in outbound teleconsulting to expand client relationships.
  • Participate in weekly huddles and one-on-one coaching sessions.
  • Serve as relief and/or backup teller in other locations as needed.
  • Complete all assigned learning activities in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate and model the bank's core values and participate in community activities.
