The Universal Banker Float is a highly adaptable, relationship focused role that provides critical support across Pathfinder Bank branch locations. This position plays a key role in driving branch performance by delivering exceptional customer experiences, supporting sales and referral activity, and ensuring operational consistency across the branch network. This role is responsible for building and strengthening customer relationships, identifying opportunities to expand those relationships, and supporting overall branch goals. The Universal Banker Float must quickly integrate into different branch environments, maintain a strong understanding of operational procedures, products, and systems, and demonstrate sound risk management judgment to minimize loss and reduce fraud. This position may also process consumer loan applications from application through closing, including home equity products, in accordance with Bank policy. Time spent in each work area will vary based on branch size, complexity, and business need.

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of experience at Pathfinder Bank or equivalent experience at a similar financial institution
  • Must meet all qualifications of the Customer Service Specialist role
  • Must obtain and maintain an NMLS number
  • ABA Universal Banker Certification or equivalent required, along with completion of internal Pathfinder training
  • Proven ability to consistently transition service interactions into sales opportunities
  • Strong adaptability and ability to work effectively in multiple branch environments
  • Effective or higher rating on annual performance reviews
  • Demonstrated accountability and ability to resolve issues promptly
  • Notary Public designation required or ability to obtain
  • Proven ability to open and close a branch according to established procedures
  • Ability to qualify for lending authority
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel between all Pathfinder Bank branch locations in Oswego and Onondaga counties

Responsibilities

  • Travel between branch locations to provide consistent, high quality customer service and operational support
  • Deliver a strong customer experience by building relationships and identifying opportunities to meet customer needs
  • Support branch sales efforts by recognizing referral opportunities and connecting customers with appropriate team members
  • Process retail and commercial transactions accurately and efficiently, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and check cashing
  • Maintain proficiency in teller operations, balancing transactions and cash drawers with minimal assistance
  • Adapt quickly to varying branch environments, supporting both customer facing and operational needs
  • Assist with key operational functions including ATM balancing, night drop, safe deposit box activity, debit card setup, branch capture, and courier preparation
  • Maintain accurate and up to date customer information
  • Ensure compliance with all Bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain confidentiality of all customer records and documentation
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 75 to 100 existing and prospective customers, identifying opportunities to deepen relationships
  • Process consumer loan applications from application through closing, including home equity products, in accordance with policy
  • Open and close branches in accordance with established procedures, as assigned
