About The Position

The Universal Banker - Float specializes in enhancing the branch customer experience through sales, service, and digital engagement for both Consumer and Business Banking customers. This role supports daily operations of the branch as a Teller and meets customer service and sales needs as required by the assigned branch. The Float Universal Banker will frequently travel to different branches within a designated area to assist branch staff as needed. Responsibilities include holding customer appointments, identifying customer needs, and referring complex needs to appropriate team members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of 1 year's proven retail sales, call center, customer service, or telesales experience.
  • Ability to travel between branches as needed.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact with varying customers from consumer to small business.
  • Ability to handle difficult customer conversations.
  • Well-organized with proven time management skills.
  • Ability to work under critical time constraints in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with internet user-level technology.

Responsibilities

  • Educate customers on features and benefits of Consumer and Business Banking solutions.
  • Engage customers to encourage the use of digital capabilities.
  • Explain criteria used to decision loan applications.
  • Complete servicing-related responsibilities for Consumer and Business Banking customer relationships.
  • Follow the Bank's sales process and provide customer-focused advice.
  • Proactively reach out to customers to retain and expand relationships.
  • Adhere to customer service standards and provide a differentiated experience.
  • Engage in lobby management and take ownership of customer banking needs.
  • Assist with AML, BSA, and KYC processes.
  • Identify and escalate suspected fraud cases.
  • Resolve and log customer complaints accurately.
  • Review and help resolve customer overdrafts.
  • Complete customer transactions and related operational activities.
  • Adhere to compliance and operational risk controls.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain internal control standards and implement audit points.
  • Meet registration requirements under the Federal SAFE Act.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
