This individual is responsible for all aspects of MUSC's Recycling and Solid Waste program and the contract management of the University's Housekeeping program. This includes, but is not limited to, the supervision of all University and contract employees and the scheduling and scope of all services provided. This individual guides the standards of these two programs and is highly involved in ensuring they provide a positive customer experience and that all contractual vendor obligations are met. This individual holds responsibility for financial oversight of the Recycling and Solid Waste program's budget and the University's Housekeeping contract. This position has been deemed essential for the continuity of services during Hazardous Weather or other Emergency Conditions.

  • Directs and manages program design, implementation and daily administrative activities.
  • Interprets policies and rules of programs administered by an agency.
  • Recommends new programs or revisions to existing programs administered by an agency; assesses programs and implements policy, procedure or rule changes.
  • Informs governing board about issues confronting an agency; may advise board about appropriate action to take.
  • Participates in the management decision-making process of an agency.
  • Attends legislative, public and advocacy group hearings present information for discussion and/or decision-making purposes; responds to requests for information from employees, the public and the media.
  • Ensures compliance with vendor contractual requirements, customer satisfaction, and that services are performed in a safe, timely, and satisfactory manner.
  • Periodically reviews staffing plans, changes to work plans, savings opportunities, etc. with both teams to ensure that they represent the best interests of MUSC.
  • Provides oversight to MUSC's Recycling and Solid Waste programs.
  • Assists in ensuring solid waste vendor is in compliance with their contractual requirements.
  • Partners with institutional leadership to foster positive relationships with landfills and other regulatory and community partners.
  • Ensures all regulatory reporting requirements are complete and on time.
  • Monitors contractor's special project, restoration and floor cleaning schedules.
  • Collaborates with Recycling supervisor and housekeeping contractor leadership to strive for high employee engagement.
  • Provides leadership to direct reports and contractor on-site leadership.
  • A bachelor's degree and three years relevant program experience.
