The Design-to-Order Engineering Leader will be responsible for overseeing the engineering and design process and execution from concept to production, for Trane Technologies' Large Commercial Unitary Product portfolio based in Clarksville, Tennessee. This role will be responsible for overseeing, executing and optimizing the design to order process, in collaboration with cross-functional teams. This leader will contribute to the Large Commercial Unitary PGT's (Product Growth Teams) growth targets to deliver unique solutions to customers. This leader will be crucial in developing and delivering internal design capabilities, aligning to and supporting expanding manufacturing capabilities, and coordinating and utilizing external supply chain capabilities to meet dynamic market requirements.

  • Sustain and lead the design-to-order (DTO) process to enable the development and delivery of customized HVAC solutions for the Large Commercial Unitary market segment and products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, sales professionals, manufacturing engineers, supply chain representatives, design engineers, and designers to ensure the successful delivery of DTO initiatives.
  • Conduct technical and feasibility assessments to evaluate customer requirements and provide engineering and design recommendations for product customization.
  • Contribute to cost, delivery and quality plans and measurable outcomes for DTO initiatives.
  • Define scopes, timelines, and allocate resources effectively to ensure initiatives are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Guide DTO team, ensuring adherence to product specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to enable manufacturing capability development and enable design for manufacturability (DfM).
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to identify and evaluate potential suppliers, ensuring the availability of necessary components and materials for customized products.
  • Identify and communicate risks and develop mitigations for DTO initiatives, to ensure successful delivery.
  • Identify and develop skillsets and talent to support the DTO business model.
  • Collaborate across product teams and plants to exchange and utilize best practices for DTO projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or Equivalent, Required. Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in product development, Design, or Manufacturing of HVAC systems.
  • Experience delivering and supporting HVAC products from product development through commercialization, supporting VAVE and sustaining engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of design, manufacturing and quality practices and processes.
  • Proficiency in Lean and/or Six Sigma principles preferred.
  • Familiarity with GD&T required.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including UL, ISO, IEC, ASME, and AHRI standards relevant to industrial systems.
  • Proficiency in Lean and/or Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience in developing, coaching and collaborating with team members and operators.
