About The Position

At Driscoll Children’s Hospital, where compassion meets innovation and technology, we are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team. This position involves essential duties that require maintaining confidentiality, adhering to hospital policies, and demonstrating ethical actions. The role includes clerical duties such as responding to communication devices, entering data into the electronic medical record, and recording patient data. Additionally, responsibilities include room and patient care, equipment management, and support for patients, including transporting specimens and assisting with patient care tasks.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a Nurse Aide School.
  • Nurse Aide Certification.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR) continuously maintained.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) or other DHS deemed relevant course equivalent within 6 months of hire and maintained continuously thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Responds to communication devices such as phone/vocera/call bells.
  • Completes basic entries into the electronic medical record.
  • Records patient data in EMR and transcribes written orders.
  • Stocks supplies, checks for expiration dates, and orders supplies.
  • Cleans equipment and toys.
  • Transports blood borne pathogen or other patient specimens.
  • Picks up blood from blood bank and delivers to the unit.
  • Cleans surgical instruments and prepares them for processing.
  • Packages or moves infectious waste containers for disposal.
  • Provides in-room support for patients on airborne precautions.
  • Measures, records, and empties urine collection devices.
  • Empties bedpans/commodes.
  • Reinforces established education material or room orientation with patients/families.
  • Transports patients off unit for tests/procedures.
  • Discontinues Peripheral IVs.
  • Obtains Point of Care specimens and urine, wound, stool, throat, and nasal specimens.
