About The Position

The Outpatient Surgery Center Unit Support Technician is responsible for performing various tasks to provide a well-supplied, safe, and clean patient unit. This position requires direct access to drug products and secure medication locations to manage the storage, handling, and disposal of medications in accordance with the Medication Storage and Handling Policy. The role is Monday to Friday during daytime hours.

Requirements

  • High school graduate
  • Experience working in a hospital preferred
  • BLS certification required within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Order and obtain supplies for the unit
  • Re-stock supplies and linen to the unit
  • Locate lost equipment
  • Care for and clean unit equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas
  • Keep hallways clear of excess equipment
  • Answer telephones and manage communications
  • Copy and collate materials
  • Prepare and process patient computer charge sheets
  • Transcribe physician orders for RN co-signature
  • Initiate and maintain dietary reports, lab books, IV sheets, and other record books
  • Maintain clinical charts, flow sheets, and Kardexes
  • Receive new admissions and assist visitors
  • Deliver specimens to the Laboratory and run errands to other departments
  • Maintain established written communications systems used by the unit
  • Operate healthcare approved lasers and perform equipment maintenance
  • Maintain certifications and keep appropriate records for documentation and repairs
  • Provide training for unit staff on equipment
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
