Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Naturally calm and efficient under pressure.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in clerical/administrative tasks.
  • Able to rapidly adapt to intense, varied activity.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the voice of the ED, answering calls, routing info, and liaising with departments, families, and external agencies.
  • Admit patients to central monitor, print rhythm strips, track changes, and alert staff to vital sign/rhythm changes.
  • Manage desk flow, organize charts/results, and ensure timely order entry (labs, imaging, diets).
  • Coordinate patient transfers, prepare requisitions, and facilitate follow-up appointments.
  • Uphold patient rights and information privacy.
  • Keep supervisors informed, assist with clerical duties (admissions, discharges, transfers), and maintain logs/files.
