About The Position

Youth Residential Treatment Facility Swing Shift $24.58 - $33.53 DOE Pierce County's only Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic: Comprehensive Life Resources is looking for a passionate Unit Supervisor to join our Pearl Youth Residential Treatment team in Tacoma Washington. Scope: Pearl Youth Residence (PYR) which is one of four CLIP programs (children's long term inpatient program), is a positive learning place for youth, families, and staff. PYR serves youth ages 12-17 from all around Washington state. Treatment includes a multidisciplinary team consisting of case managers, therapists, psychiatrists, recreation therapist, nursing staff, and milieu staff. Residents are certified for six months, and the average length of stay is approximately 9 months. The residents attend school onsite which is through the Tacoma School District and classrooms are supported by paraeducators and BHT's. The Unit Supervisor coordinates all aspects of each unit to ensure a positive learning environment for residents, families, communities, and staff. Provide treatment and individually tailored care as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, supporting the mission of Pearl Youth Residence (PYR). Serves as a member of the organization that welcomes, engages, and serves individuals with complex wellness needs.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED. Three years’ experience working with children, youth, and families in a therapeutic setting and/or 1 year experience working with youth in an inpatient facility.
  • WA State DOH credential/license.
  • This position may require driving and requires a valid driver’s license; proof of insurance.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current food handlers permit.
  • Ability to be certified in Handle with Care verbal de-escalation and physical restraint strategies within 60 days of hire and annual recertification.
  • Annual flu and TB shot verification and willing to follow other measures as directed by Infection Control Manager.
  • Skilled in MS Word and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, take initiative, and maintain confidentiality.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned employees through regular documented supervision. Provide training and development as appropriate, consultation, manage and appraise performance, support employee retention and professional growth, recommend and provide discipline as needed, and recommend termination of employment as necessary. Ensure the completion of all necessary documentation and processes assigned to the unit are completed within 24 hours of shift.
  • Oversee all staff regarding milieu issues and management of residents. Identify staff needs and be accessible to staff for training, supervision, and consultation.
  • Ensure communication among team members during and between shifts using teams, milieu cell phones, walkie-talkies or face to face.
  • Assure safety checks of building and grounds are completed and report unsafe conditions and needed repairs.
  • Model professionalism and PYR values to staff and residents. Provide feedback and training to staff as needed regarding model implementation and maintaining structure and safety within the program.
  • Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to design, implement, maintain, and evaluate individually tailored care plans.
  • Work in close collaboration with the leadership team and other departments to maintain a team approach to ensure the care, safety, and treatment of residents.
  • Monitor and maintain adherence to PYR and agency policies and procedures.
  • Verify schedule and coverage and support in the scheduling needs.
  • Develop an action plan for each unit prior to start of shift. This includes but is not limited to assigning contacts, scheduling breaks, planning activities.
  • Participate in scheduled program meetings and activities; including but not limited to weekly MDT, CFTM’s, supervision, and other program meetings as needed.
  • In addition to the above, perform other duties as assigned.
