The New York County District Attorney's Office has an immediate opening for a EECU Unit Specialist in the Early Engagement Case Support Unit (EECU). In this position the Unit Specialist is responsible for scanning orders of protection issued in arraignments and the Criminal/Supreme court parts, assisting victims in understanding the criminal justice system, referring for advocacy and counseling services, providing information regarding orders of protection issued in arraignments and the Criminal/Supreme court parts, assisting victims in crime victims’ rights, offering administrative support to the Unit, and for the Crime Victim’s Vigil. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Scan and correct (when required) orders of protection issued in arraignments and the Criminal/Supreme court parts into the OPS database Edit victim addresses and Follow-up with the ADAs Mail/e-mail Orders of Protection to victims/witnesses Consult with Assistant Supervisor, Deputy Director, and Director on sensitive cases, or cases needing legal advisement Record returned mail in the OPS database, and consult with staff and Assistant District Attorney’s to ensure correct information is entered, and updated accordingly Perform daily data entry Perform all administrative tasks associated with the Crime Victim’s Vigil Attend monthly Vigil committee meetings, video production meetings, and all other Vigil related meetings as requested by Director. Type and prepare meeting minutes Coordinate, and take lead in ordering Vigil supplies with outside vendors, working alongside Procurement Coordinate with Operations, Reproduction, and other DANY Units to ensue Vigil materials are ordered, and delivered to the Vigil location (Church) Assisting the Director at the Vigil rehearsal, and the day of the Vigil with all logistics Responds promptly to incoming calls and e-mails, including the ‘rollover’ line and voicemails and transfer calls to the designated EECU staff member Handle heavy volume of crisis and information calls and forward to the appropriate department of SSB Inform victims of the wide range of services available to them through SSB Retrieve mail and distribute to assigned EECU staff member Assist EECU Leadership with producing and/or assembling documents needed for various meetings Manage and order all supplies for the unit Works closely with the Director, Deputy Director, and Assistant Supervisor regarding the witness fee reconciliation process Assist victims/witnesses with orders of protection and registration for notification of inmate release Liaise with victims and Assistant District Attorneys, and provide essential information Task supervise the College Aide Explain criminal justice system and provide case information, and ensure that clients are knowledgeable about their rights Establish rapport, with each victim, in a professional customer service-related approach Detail oriented and self-motivated and able to multi-task. Strong attention to detail and follow-up Works collaboratively and cooperatively with staff in a team-oriented environment. Strong organizational and computer skills. Professional interaction with all levels of staff, victims, witnesses, and law enforcement personnel Perform related tasks as assigned.
