About The Position

Unit Secretary Full-Time, Nights | 3, 12-hour shifts. The hours are 7:00pm until 7:30am. Team members will be required to work every 3rd weekend a month and 3/6 holidays per year. Overview The Unit Secretary plays an essential role for our Adult Neurology Critical Care Unit at Methodist Hospital. Team members will see the high acuity that involves trauma patients and ICU patients. This role involves end of life care, working with Indiana Donor Network, rounding on the unit and interacting with patients at times. Medical or Healthcare experience is highly preferred. This position ensures timely and accurate scheduling, facilitates smooth departmental workflow, and provides exceptional service to patients, families, and clinical teams.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience; experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Some knowledge of medical terms.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical or Healthcare experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate motility procedure scheduling with accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to patient-centered service.
  • Maintain organized, up‑to‑date documentation including reports, correspondence, and database entries.
  • Respond to routine inquiries from patients, visitors, and team members, ensuring compassionate and professional communication.
  • Monitor and replenish department supply inventory, preparing purchase orders as needed.
  • Partner with the manager to support departmental goals, budget processes, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Safeguard all confidential and sensitive patient information in alignment with IU Health compliance standards.
