About The Position

The Unit Secretary provides clerical support for all employees within an assigned nursing unit, specifically the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit). This role involves maintaining and updating patients' records and performing administrative activities in compliance with all regulations. The position is part-time, working 7a-7p on Saturdays and Sundays. Arkansas Children's is the only hospital system in Arkansas dedicated to caring for children, driven by values of safety, teamwork, compassion, and excellence. It has received Magnet Status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for nursing excellence and patient outcomes, and is nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report for several specialties. The system includes two hospitals, a pediatric research institute, foundation, clinics, education, and outreach. The Little Rock campus has a 336-bed hospital with the state's only pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center, burn center, Level 4 neonatal intensive care and pediatric intensive care, as well as a nationally-recognized transport service. Arkansas Children's Northwest provides inpatient and emergency care, clinic rooms, and diagnostic services to children in that corner of the state. This position has been designated as safety sensitive and cannot be filled by a candidate who is a current user of medical marijuana. Arkansas Children's is a tobacco-free workplace and flu vaccines are required.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Maintains patient chart/record.
  • Performs clerical/receptionist/support services duties.
  • Ensures an appropriate level of forms, supplies and equipment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency situations and reacts appropriately.
