About The Position

The Neonatal ICU is a Critical Care Unit within Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, caring for newborn babies born with various conditions that haven't yet been discharged to go home with their family. We build great relationships with the parents of our NICU babies since they are so frequently here at the bedside. We are the largest NICU in Michigan and care for babies from 37 counties. The NICU unit is a 108 bed unit.

We have both inpatient and ambulatory spaces as well as a Level 1 trauma Emergency Department designated to children.
Performs receptionist/secretarial duties and maintains confidential records, supplies and equipment per hospital and unit specific standards. The Unit Secretary is the “go to” on each unit for clerical support.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of related/relevant experience preferred

Responsibilities

• taking phone calls
• helping with directions to all visitors or outside team members to the unit (lab, radiology, patient transport, nutrition services, environmental services)
• calling support when directed by clinical staff
• assisting with discharge, admit, and transfer paperwork
• ordering supplies
• ensuring rooms are appropriately stocked
• answering call lights for any non-direct patient care needs
