About The Position

The Unit Secretary at St. Francis Medical Center plays a crucial role in supporting the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) by facilitating communication and performing indirect patient care tasks. This position is accountable to the Director of NICU and assists nursing staff with various administrative duties, ensuring that patient records are accurately maintained and that the unit is well-supplied.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent or relevant experience required.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Basic dysrhythmia training on hire preferred.
  • Medical terminology preferred.
  • Experience using computers for word processing and database management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates communication needs of the NICU department.
  • Transcribes physician orders from records with notation and signature by nursing staff.
  • Prepares and compiles records on the NICU.
  • Orders supplies for the unit.
  • Prepares and completes each patient's chart for necessary forms needed on a daily basis.
  • Assists nursing staff with duties involving indirect patient care.
