Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech - Emergency Room - Per Diem 12 Hour Night Shift (Union)
About The Position
The Unit Secretary/Monitor Technician performs clerical, and communication functions on assigned nursing unit. S/he monitors patients for arrhythmias and alerts proper personnel as needed. She/he provides courteous reception on the nursing unit and coordinates activities for patient care. Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience
- Completion of a EKG or Rhythm interpretation course
- Minimum of one (1) year current experience as a Unit Secretary and Monitor Tech in an acute care preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Data entry computer skills
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) card from the American Heart Association
- ED/Geropsych: AB 508 Certification (if no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire
- EKG course required
- Successful candidate must pass rhythm recognition exam
