About The Position

The Unit Secretary in the Emergency Department (ED) at Texas Health Dallas plays a crucial role in supporting the needs of physicians, staff, patients, and other customers. This position is full-time, with evening shifts from 11A to 11P, and includes weekend and holiday requirements. The Emergency Department is a fast-paced, high-volume environment, averaging 200 patients per day. The role offers self-scheduling to help with work-life balance, opportunities for educational and career growth, and is supported by a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and an engaged leadership team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Previous unit clerk experience preferred.
  • Possess organizational skills to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive interpersonal skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all tasks to meet the needs of physicians, staff, patients, and other customers.
  • Demonstrates acceptable organizational skills.
  • Performs technical skills that are adapted to reflect the population-specific, developmental and diverse needs of the patient.
  • Uses Professional Practice Model philosophy to work in partnership with patients, families, physicians, peers and all other disciplines.
  • Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to changes in schedule and/or workload assignment necessary to meet changing needs of the individual patient or unit.
  • Serves as a patient advocate.
  • Assists with documentation that supports and meets hospital and regulatory requirements.
