About The Position

The Unit Secretary-Emergency assists the nursing and medical staff by acting as receptionist, unit liaison, and secretary for the nursing unit. The Secretary creates a friendly, cooperative impression throughout all interactions with internal and external customers and works independently to prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Secretary is responsible for establishing and maintaining an orderly work environment that supports the smooth operation of the department.

Requirements

• Minimum one-year experience utilizing clerical, computer, and receptionist skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
• Effective communication skills with physicians, staff, patients, and the public.
• Sensitivity for hospitalized patients and families.
• Ability to follow instructions and work accurately under pressure.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
