The Child Crisis Stabilization Unit is a 20 bed unit for the multi-disciplinary assessment, evaluation, crisis intervention, and stabilization of adolescent female patients. Discharge planning emphasizes movement to day hospital or outpatient care as soon as the crisis has been stabilized.

  • Perform a variety of clerical and secretarial duties to support the effective operations of the inpatient unit.
  • Serve as receptionist and communication source.
  • Assemble and maintain active patient charts, patient records, and unit/program files.
  • Transcribe physicians' orders.
  • Maintain timekeeping records of assigned staff.
  • Prepare memos, tables, and general correspondence.
  • Schedule appointments and meetings.
  • Collect and maintain data.
  • Order supplies.
  • Run errands throughout Hospital complex.
  • High School Diploma
  • At least one year of clerical/secretarial experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with KRONOS timekeeping software and other automated office equipment.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange factual and confidential information and communicate effectively and courteously with a diverse group of internal and external contacts.
  • An extended clinical orientation led by Sheppard Pratt's Clinical Education Department.
