About The Position

The Unit Inspector is responsible for overseeing the repair, fabrication, installation, and inspection of ASME boilers, pressure vessels, piping systems, and pressure relieving devices within a given operating area of the refinery. The Inspector is responsible for the data analysis and maintenance recommendations for complex refining process equipment to assure equipment safety, mechanical integrity, and economic operations. Using statistical techniques, the Inspector determines the type of data to be collected as well as its interpretation to make repair recommendations. These detailed recommendations include inspection results, equipment life expectancy, alternative solutions, and technical specifications with the goal of not only correcting deficiencies but also of enhancing operations. All Repair recommendations must comply with company and industry standards/codes.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • API-510 and API-570 certifications
  • 10 or more years of experience in the construction, repair, or inspection of piping, tanks, and/or pressure vessels
  • 5 or more years of experience in the refining or chemical industry
  • 5 or more years of experience in construction, repair, or inspection of pressure vessels, tanks, and/or piping in the refining or chemical industry
  • 5 or more years of direct field experience in application of non-destructive inspection techniques in the refining or chemical industry
  • Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to comply with the following: Travel 5% - 10% of the time, Occasional on-call duties, Work overtime as needed, Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, Transport articles up to 40 pounds, Work with safety as the top priority, Climb ladders and stairs, Work around chemicals, including acids and bases, Work around hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat, Work outside in harsh weather conditions, Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear, and eye protection), Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with Operations and Maintenance teams regularly in your Production Area
  • Represent inspection department in the area Management of Change process
  • Participate in small and large capital project teams to ensure successful completion and handover
  • Review and approve piping fabrication isometrics, inspection and test plans, welding procedures and other repair and construction plans
  • Diligently manage fixed equipment and documentation residing in PCMS, SAP & Livelink
  • Responsible for field-verifying proper installation of all new and revised piping fabrications
  • Develop and ensure accuracy of Turnaround worklists, repair plans, schedules, SEP's and execution plans with the turnaround team to meet turnaround milestones
  • Lead Inspector for turnarounds within area; direct the activities of other Phillips 66 and contract personnel on a temporary basis during major planned outages
  • Support other P66 Inspectors during major planned outages outside assigned area
  • Document and develop strategies for temporary leak repairs on in-service equipment & piping
  • Coordinate conventional and specialty non-destructive examination (NDE) contractors daily
  • Update mixing point / injection point data sheets and inspection records
  • Write SAP notifications for inspection related maintenance work
  • Represent the inspection department at area maintenance & turnaround planning meetings
  • Maintain acquired Inspector certifications
